About Me

I'm Vanessa & I'm 27 years old. I am a Wife, Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Niece, Cousin & Friend.  I've been married since May of 2006 to an amazing & caring husband, Nathan. I have an awesome family that is the best support system for us both.

We've had a rough past couple of months but we are God loving & trusting and know he has a great plan for our life. Here is our story:

On July 9, 2010 we found out we were pregnant with what would have been our first child. We'd been trying for sometime so we were really excited to finally be expecting. Exactly a week later I woke up from a dead sleep with horrible stomach pains. My husband rushed me to the emergency room and within hours I was rushed to emergency surgery to stop the bleeding of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. The surgery went well and we thought to ourselves...This is hard but we'll try again in 8 weeks..We were very optimistic. Little did we know God had other plans for us.

On August 17, 2010 I had surgery to remove what we though was a cyst in my wrist. I had a MRI done 2 years ago and it showed as a cyst. The Dr. didn't think it was necessary to perform surgery at that time so we chose not to since we were actively trying each month to get pregnant. After the ectopic and because of the 8 weeks we had to take off from trying I decided to finally have surgery on my wrist since the "cyst" was starting to get bigger and causing more pain. That surgery was done and on August 23 the pathology report came back and it was cancer...more specifically synovial sarcoma. We were completely blindsided and devastated by this news. We've had numerous tests done including a full body PET/CT Scan and praise be to God the cancer has not spread to any other parts of my body. Although the tumor was fully removed the margins were positive which means there are cancer cells still in my wrist. I am currently undergoing 7 and a half weeks of radiation to my wrist to rid my body of the cancer.

As sad and upset as we were to lose the baby we now know God brought the baby here to save my life. If it weren't for our little baby I would have never had surgery on my wrist because it was thought to be a harmless cyst and the cancer could have spread throughout my body before I had a chance to have it treated...but its because that baby came and left that I finally had the surgery done. I've never seen God's work and plan so clear before as I have in my own life. He is so good and so faithful and has answered so many prayers since my journey started back on July 9.

We're hoping and praying that soon this cancer will be a very distant memory from which we learned so much.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
